Vietnamese in Washington D.C. hold protest against China

Along with fellow Vietnamese all over the world, Vietnamese people in the East coast of the United States did not let 19 January go by without holding a ceremony to commemorate Vietnamese naval officers who lost their lives in the clash against the Chinese navy in 1974. The result of this battle was the loss of control of the Paracel archipelago to Chinese hands who has occupied it since. Beside commemorating the anniversary, Vietnamese also took the opportunity to let China know that Vietnamese do not intend to make the status quo a permanent situation. The commemoration and protest took place in the U.S. capital city of Washington D.C.
