The maps below indicate that China is drawn in the green color (Hainan), while Vietnam is drawn in the pink color. The Paracel islands are clearly shown to be drawn in the pink.





The old Dutch map below is now kept in the British National Library. Vietnam's borders is drawn in yellow color, the same color used for the Paracel islands.



This map was drawn in 1686 by a priest Placide of Augustine. The map is now kept in the French national library
